I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD with a USB 3-SATA cable (came included in the SSD box). I wanted to clone the OS partition/system but Samsung software (Magician and Data transfer manager) can't find the SSD. Windows 10 cannot either find the SSD. In BIOS ACHI is activated and the SSD doesn't appear in BIOS. Att this I have tried with the SSD connected through SATA to USB 3 externally on PC.
I thought it was so easy, just plug in -- run -- clone -- change harddrive, but it is giving me head ache. I've update all the chipset drivers om my PC without solving the problem.
I am not that technologic but with clear instructions from internet I have fixed some problems.
Is there anyone who have had solved such problem with installing windows 10 on a brand new Samsung 850 EVO SSD?

Hello community,
I have a gigabyte aero 15 laptop (the ‘old version’ with the quad core i7-7700HQ cpu). I am satisfied with it, but image processing with Lightroom was slow. After doing some research I realized that the likely bottleneck is the included SATA ssd. I have decided to upgrade to the samsung 970 EVO.
After I inserted the ssd, BIOS immediately recognised it as an NVMe device. After starting up windows, I installed the Samsung driver and used the Samsung data migration software to clone the original ssd to the new 970 evo. I turned off the machine and removed the old ssd to see if the system will boot from the 970 (and also to have security copy in case I screw up). Windows booted without problem, so far, so good. I opened up the AS ssd benchmark and while the system certainly became faster, but not as fast as expected based on benchmarks reported (https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/04/25/samsung-970-evo-review/), e.g. I only get a seq r/w speed of approx. 1950 / 2100 Mb/s and 21/30 MB/s in the 4K test. I got suspicious at this point, that something is off
In the device manager and under ‘Storage controller’ I have two installed the ‘Samsung NVMe controller’ and the ‘Microsoft storage spaces controller’. In the ‘Disk drives’ (within the device manager) I select the 970 and the ‘driver’ tab shows that it uses the microsoft driver, not the Samsung one! Furthermore if I choose the ‘events’ it has a ‘device not migrated’ message:

I am not a huge PC tinkerer, but seems to me that the driver did not install correctly and hence it uses the default Microsoft controller. I guess that explains the slower than expected speed. I have tried to update the driver manually but after selecting the corresponding folder Windows tells me that folder does not contain the relevant folder. I have also tried to reinstall the Samsung NVMe drive with the same results. I am on the latest version of Win 10 and double checked that i am using the latest samsung driver as well.
Any tips how to proceed from here? I think there is somehting off with the driver, but not sure what to do. All help would be much appreciated!
